In terms of design the all new Tucson is hugely different from its predecessor and is heavily inspired by the Vision T concept that debuted at the 2019 Los Angeles Motor Show. Carrying Hyundai’s latest “Sensuous Sportiness” design language, the all new 2021 Tucson adapts what Hyundai calls a “Parametric Dynamics” look, with plenty of kinetic jewel surface details as seen on the latest Elantra. Up front the fascia highlights the latest evolution of Hyundai’s signature headlamp architecture, called “Parametric Hidden Lights”. The slim headlamps are accompanied by LED DRLs that are integrated into the jewel-like grille & are only revealed when turned on, & remain hidden otherwise.

The new Tucson projects plenty of chiseled surfaces and angular wheel arches to give it a bold & dynamic look. The rear end gets a full-width tail lamp assembly, which incorporates half-hidden triangular shapes that are only visible when lit, echoing the lighting theme at the front. To ensure the continuity of the light bar, Hyundai has moved the brand logo up into the rear screen area, and the rear wiper now hides under the spoiler to provide a cleaner look. The bumper gets reflectors while the lower section gets a diamond texture along with the diffuser.

Inside, there is an “Interspace” cabin as defined by Hyundai, led by a layered dashboard styled in wrap-around fashion, with twin silver garnish lines that extend to the doors. There’s a hoodless digital instrument cluster and a flat, button-less centre fascia. Hyundai says the idea is to offer a sense of connected and comfortable drive in a cabin that is open and simplistic. The broad ridge of the dashboard blends consistently with the doors, wrapping around front occupants. The vertically oriented, fully integrated center fascia descends to the console while the ambient mood light feature allows one to adjust 64 colors for 10 brightness levels.

The dual-screen center panel comes fitted with an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support mounted on top of a full touchscreen climate control panel. The main 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation display offers split-screen functionality and enhanced voice recognition. The 2021 Hyundai Tucson also includes Hyundai’s Digital Key, a feature that allows customers to use their Smartphones as keys. The Tucson’s “car to home” feature will also give drivers the ability to link up their smart home appliances to their vehicle, so they can do things such as to turn on their home air conditioner from the vehicle, before they return home.

Hyundai says “getting into the cabin is like entering a neatly organized room where everyday concerns disappear, not unlike the feeling of a modern boutique hotel where your comfort and convenience are the utmost priority.”
