In wake of the upcoming stringent emission and safety regulations in India, Maruti has updated the Suzuki Swift with a BS-VI compliant petrol engine. Additionally, the Maruti Suzuki Swift also gets an upgrade in terms of standard set of safety features across the range.
To comply with the new safety norms the Swift now gets seatbelt reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors as standard. Previously only dual airbags, ABS with EBD and a driver-side seatbelt reminder were offered as standard equipment.
The Swift now gets a BS-VI compliant 1.2-liter K12B petrol engine that will deliver 22 km per liter with manual as well as AMT version. The 1.3-liter diesel engine which isn’t updated to BS-VI standards will be discontinued towards the end of this year. The BS-VI upgraded Swift is priced from INR 5.14 lac and goes as high as INR 8.89 lac for the flagship ZDi AMT trim.
The 4th gen Suzuki Swift is currently the best selling car in India with monthly sales of over 17,000 units. It is also the winner of the 2019 Indian Car of the Year award and is also the only model in India to receive the award for three consecutive generations.
