Suzuki Swift Wins 2019 Indian Car of the Year Award

The fourth generation Suzuki Swift has won the 2019 Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) award. The Swift becomes the only model in India to receive the award for three consecutive generations. ICOTY is the most prestigious auto award, with juries comprising of 11 auto magazines and 18 auto journalists in India.

The second generation Swift won the ICOTY in 2006, followed by the third generation model in 2012. The fourth generation Swift is much-favored in India as a premium hatchback featuring sporty styling, superb driving performance, excellent handling, and user-friendliness with very competitive prices.

Earlier in November Maruti Swift also crossed the 2 million cumulative sales milestone in India. The company reported the sales of the first 1 million units in November 2013, which means the next million units were sold in just 5 years.

The 4th generation Swift was launched in India on the 8th of February earlier this year and set a new record in the Indian car market by achieving the 1 lac sales milestone within just 145 days of being launched. Between May 2018 and October 2018, the Swift has posted an average monthly sales of 19,322 units.

In India, the Swift hatchback is currently available in six variants: LXi, LDi, VXi, VDi, ZXi and ZDi and 14 trims. The 4th gen Swift is offered in both petrol and diesel engines including a 1.2-liter petrol and a 1.3-liter diesel mated to either a 5-speed manual or AGS (Auto Gear Shift) transmission. Prices start from INR 4.99 lac for the base variant to up to INR 7.96 lac for the top spec ZDi Diesel AGS.
