New Isuzu D-MAX Earns Full 5 Stars in Euro NCAP Crash Tests

The latest generation of Isuzu D-MAX has earned a full 5-star safety rating in the recent round of Euro NCAP crash tests. The 3rd gen D-MAX which debuted in October last year has already got a 5-star rating from ASEAN NCAP as well as 5-star rating from ANCAP.

The Euro NCAP tests include a wide variety of analysis including frontal crash, side profile crash test, adult & child occupancy safety tests, along with pedestrian and other safety features tests. It is also known as one of the most stringent safety tests conducted across the globe, resulting in high standards of safety in Euro-spec vehicles.

In these tests, the 3rd gen Isuzu D-MAX achieved top scores in each of the four categories: adult occupancy, child occupancy, vulnerable road users and safety assist. The D-MAX scored 84% in the adult occupancy, 86% in child occupant safety, 37.6 points or 69% in the vulnerable road users tests and 83% in safety assist systems.

As per Euro NCAP, the front bumper provided ample protection to the occupants’ legs and pedestrian’s pelvis. On the other hand, the Safety Assist segment includes passive and active safety features with Euro-spec D-MAX featuring an Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) as standard across all its variants.

The 3rd gen Isuzu D-Max for European markets is powered by a 1.9-liter four-cylinder inter-cooled turbo diesel engine that produces 148hp of power and 350Nm of peak torque & comes paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox that distributes power to all wheels through a low-range transfer case.

The latest generation of Isuzu D-MAX has reached a number of key markets, however in Pakistan the previous generation model despite being a capable product is struggling to make sales primarily due to constantly increasing prices. The pickup truck just broke its own record of lowest-sales by selling just 3 units in November.
