40th Anniversary Toyota Camry Black Edition Launched in Japan

Toyota has launched the Camry Black Edition in Japan to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Celica Camry that was first introduced in 1980. Based on the top-spec WS variant, the JDM Black Edition features cosmetic & equipment enhancements including new exterior colors to stand out from the rest.

The monotone color options include Black Pearl, Platinum White Pearl Mica and Emotional Red whereas the dual-tone options include an Attitude Black Mica roof to go along with either the white or red paints.

The Camry Black Edition comes fitted with black 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, front lower grill moldings as well as smoked headlamps and taillights. The interior can be had in either red or black leather upholstery, which is applied on the seats, dashboard, center armrest and door panels. Both the driver and front passenger also get heated and powered seats.

In addition to styling tweaks, the Camry Black Edition, along with the rest of the Camry line-up, gains an improved list of driver assistance systems including blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic auto brake and parking support brake system as standard on all models.

Under the hood, the Camry Black Edition is powered by the same A25A-FKS 2.5 liter hybrid powertrain that deliver 177 hp and 221 Nm of torque, with a choice of front-wheel drive or Toyota’s E-Four all-wheel drive system. Price starts at 4.208 million yen (PKR 66.8 lac) for FWD and 4.406 million yen (PKR 70.0 lac) for the AWD version.
