All New Toyota Harrier Goes on Sale in Japan

Following its world debut in April, the 4th generation Toyota Harrier has now gone on sale in Japan.

Riding on the new TNGA (GA-K) modular platform, the new Harrier measures 4,740 mm long, 1,855 mm wide and 1,660 mm tall while having a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. The 2020 Toyota Harrier boasts more fluidic proportions, a powerful stance and sharply designed elements to make it look much classier and sportier than before.

Interior equipment includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen display with T-Connect SD navigation system, with support for SmartDeviceLink as well as Apple CarPlay and Ã…ndroid Auto, and a 9-speaker JBL sound system. The hybrid versions feature a 100-volt 1,500-watt AC accessory power outlet that can power electrical devices which run on household electrical outlets, and serve as an emergency electricity supply.

Safety features in the new Harrier includes Toyota Safety Sense, which includes a pre-collision safety system that can detect pedestrians during both daytime and at night, as well as cyclists during the day. The Intelligent Clearance Sonar with Parking Support brakes (for stationary objects) helps avoid or mitigate damage from low-speed collisions, such as in parking lots.

Engine options for the Japanese Domestic Market include 2.0 liter naturally aspirated and 2.5 liter hybrid versions with both being available in FWD and AWD configurations. The 2.0 liter engine produces 171 hp and 207 Nm of torque, while the A25A-FXS 2.5 liter hybrid which employs Toyota’s E-four system generates 218 hp in standard form, or 222 hp when E-Four is activated.

The 2020 Toyota Harrier in Japan is priced from 2,990,000 yen (PKR 46.17 lac) for the base 2.0 S grade front-wheel-drive variant, and goes as high as 5,040,000 yen (PKR 77.83 lac) for the 2.5 liter hybrid E-Four in Z grade.

Indus Motor Company earlier this year has indicated to launch a hybrid SUV in Pakistan towards the end of this year, whether that’s going to be the all new Harrier, we will have to wait to find out.
