2020 Suzuki Ciaz Updated in India Priced from INR 8.31 Lac

India is officially adapting BS-VI emission standards from April 2020 due to which automakers are continuing to upgrade the engines to meet the upcoming stringent emission norms. India currently adapts BS-IV norms that were first put in place in 2010 and were fully enforced in 2017. However from April 2020 onwards, cars that don’t meet the BS-VI standards won’t be allowed to go on sale.

What is Bharat-VI

Bharat-Stage-VI or simply BS-VI is an emission standard that is supposed to bring much-needed changes in the Indian automobile industry in terms of pollutant emissions. With this emission norm coming into effect, India will come at par with the USA, Europe and other advanced automotive markets across the globe.

BS-VI will put a strict check on emission control, fuel-grade, automotive electronics and vehicle ECU. The most significant enforcement is making OBD (On-board diagnostics) mandatory for all vehicles. BS-VI is in line with Euro-VI emission standards already adopted in European countries. In fact, the BS-VI will also address emission of higher PM (particulate matter) in diesel engines.

Now Maruti has introduced the 2020 Ciaz in India that has the upgraded BS-VI compliant engine under its hood. The Ciaz is Maruti’s 11th vehicle to have received the BS-VI upgrade. The new Suzuki Ciaz in India is priced between INR 8.31 lac and INR 11. 09 lac.

Maruti has also launched the Ciaz S, a sports variant of the compact sedan. The Ciaz S is available in three colors- Sangria Red, Premium Silver and Pearl Snow White. The Ciaz S gets signature dual-tone sporty exteriors and intense black accentuation on side & rear under body spoilers, trunk lid spoiler, side mirror cover and front fog lamp garnish. The dual tone theme is further accentuated by 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels in coordinated dark finish.

And while regular Ciaz comes with a beige interior, the Ciaz S features an all black theme adorned with silver accents on the door trim and instrument panel. Commenting on the launch of this model, Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki said:

“There was a latent need from our sedan loving customers for a Sporty version of Ciaz. Ciaz S fulfils that need and it adds a sporty quotient to the premium mid-size sedan and appeals to the customers desiring ‘the good life’. We are confident Ciaz S will be appreciated by customers.”

Since its launch in 2014, the Ciaz has been the most popular mid-size sedan in India and has witnessed consistent growth. With over 2.7 lac satisfied customers and record 29% market share in its segment, the Ciaz is popular for its impactful exteriors, sophisticated interiors, strong performance and a reasonable price tag.
