All New Honda City Displayed at 2019 Thai Motor Expo

Honda has displayed the all new City at the 2019 Thai Motor Expo. The popular subcompact made its debut on the 25th of November in Thailand and is set to reach other markets starting from Q1, 2020.

All four variants of City (S, V, SV and sportier RS) along with the Modulo enhancements are being displayed at the show. The Thai-spec City comes with a 1.0 liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine to comply with Thailand’s Eco Car Phase 2 regulations. The engine delivers 122hp of power and 173Nm of torque & comes mated to a CVT gearbox. Other markets are expected to get 1.5 liter hybrid with Honda’s new i-MMD setup.

The 2020 Honda City is larger than all previous generations as far as the length and width are concerned, however it stands slightly shorter than the out-gone model enhancing its sportier appearance. And while the looks seems inspired from its elder brothers Civic & Accord, the City ditches the fastback styling by adapting the conventional three-box design with a coupe-ish profile. It sits on a completely new platform that underpins the newly introduced Fit/ Jazz hatchback.

The interior is completely new as well, with new 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Car Play and Android Auto support. The new dashboard features vertically oriented air vents, ambient illumination, while the touch sensitive control panel for AC is replaced by conventional knobs. The seats have also been redesigned and come with new headrests. The flagship RS trim boasts paddle shifters, suede seats with red stitching and Honda CONNECT connectivity features.

The 2020 Honda City comes cheaper than the out gone model. The S trim costs 579,000 baht (10k less), V cost 609,000 baht (40k less) and SV cost 665,000 baht (71k less). The RS trim however goes as high as 739,000 baht.

The new Honda City comes rich in terms of standard safety equipment which includes 6 airbags, ABS with EBD & BA, multi-angle rear-view camera, hill start assist and vehicle stability control.

Exclusively being built at Honda’s Ayutthaya plant in Thailand, the all new City will officially go on sale from the 24th of December in Thailand, and will be followed by Malaysian and Indian market debut by Q1, 2020. It will begin reaching other markets thereafter.
