Geely Begins Taking Orders for its First Race Car

Chinese auto giant Geely in its latest effort to establish a motorsports presence, has started taking orders for its first race car– the Lynk & Co 03 TCR. Deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2020.

The Lynk &Co 03 TCR, features a 2.0 liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine with 350 hp and 420 Nm of torque. It is front-wheel driven and fitted with a six-speed sequential gearbox.

Geely formed a motorsports arm in 2018 with dual headquarters– one in the east city of Hangzhou in China where Geely is based, and the other in Gothenburg, Sweden where its subsidiary Volvo is headquartered.

In mid 2018, the unit started developing the Lynk & CO 03 TCR. The race car made its racing debut at the 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup in Marrakech, Morocco, in April.

Lynk & Co was unveiled in 2017 as a premium car brand jointly owned by Geely and Volvo. The company has launched vehicles including 01 SUV, 02 crossover, 03 sedan and its performance oriented version called 03+, while is working on to introduce the 04 hatchback.
