Battling with crisis, Nissan has now announced to cut 10% of its global product lineup. Earlier the Japanese automaker also announced to cut 12,500 jobs globally which makes up almost 9% of its global workforce.

Nissan’s series of misfortunes doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. Still lurching from the arrest of its (former) chairman Carlos Ghosn over financial misconduct allegations, improper testing scandals, massive recalls & trouble maintaining alliance with its French partner and evaporating profits, Nissan is facing setback after setbacks.

Nissan’s global lineup includes more than 60 nameplates across the Nissan, Infiniti and Datsun brands. The 10% product reduction will happen through March 2022 and will focus mainly on small vehicles, including emerging-market Datsun models, Nissan Motor CEO Hiroto Saikawa said last week in a press conference.

Not only this, Nissan could also shrink the trims and packages offered on its vehicles as per reports. The numerous variations are proving expensive and complicated as marketing and incentive supports are strained.
