Honda has added more safety features to its entire City line-up in India without increasing the price. The Honda city is priced between INR 9.72 lac to INR 14.07 lac, and has now been equipped with a speed alarm system as well as a front passenger seat belt reminder.

The speed alarm system beeps once at 80 km/h and then follows with continuous beeps as soon as the car reaches 120 km/h. These additions are in accordance with the Indian government’s new regulations that require all vehicles to come with these safety features, along with a standard driver airbag and ABS. All variants of the Honda City sedan already come with standard dual airbags, ABS with EBD and engine immobilizer.
The current generation Honda City was launched in India back in 2014 and received a facelift in early 2017. It comes equipped with 1.5 liter (119hp/ 145Nm) petrol & 1.5 liter (99hp/200Nm) diesel engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.

Honda is reportedly working on to launch the 7th generation City, that will make its debut towards the end of this year with Thailand as its first market. It is being reported that India will be getting the 7th gen City as early as Q1, 2020.
Honda Atlas in Pakistan is currently dragging the 5th gen City for over a decade now. The entire City lineup in Pakistan doesn’t even offer a single airbag. It will be interesting to see how much longer the current City will be dragged in our country, and with the next generation City expected to arrive (in international markets) soon, we might prepare ourselves for perhaps another Honda City facelift.
