Proton Saga Facelift Spotted Testing in Malaysia

Having launched their first SUV– the X70 as well as the updated Iriz and Persona, Proton is now on the verge of introducing the refreshed Saga in Malaysia. Currently in its third generation, the Saga was introduced back in 2016 and was expected to get a facelift this year.

The revisions will include an updated fascia with new Infinite Weave grille and new front and rear bumpers, bringing the Saga in line with Proton’s new design language, laid down by the X70 SUV. Further updates are expected to be made which includes improvement in NVH levels, new head unit as well as new touchscreen system.

The Saga facelift will continue to get powered from the 1.3-liter DOHC VVT engine that punches out 94 hp and a peak torque of 120 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox option.

Proton, having signed an agreement with Al-Haj Automotive is in process of making an entry in Pakistan with the 1.3L Saga as the first offering. The ground breaking ceremony of Proton’s assembly plant in Pakistan took place on the 22nd of March 2019, and is expected to commence operations by June 2020.
