Kia Steals the Show at PAPS 2019

The biggest ever Pakistan Auto Parts Show (PAPS) 2019 kicked off today at the Karachi Expo Center. This year’s event is showcasing 244 exhibitors, including around 90 local and 106 foreign companies.

Though the biggest event is said to be the unveiling of Pak Suzuki Alto 660cc, however Kia seems to have stolen the show with an array of attention-drawing cars and good looking foreign models to accompany them.

Alongside the Grand Carnival Luxury MPV and the Sportage SUV, that are known to the Pakistani audience, the surprise was the presence of the Niro hybrid and the Stinger GT. Though Kia-Lucky has currently no plans to introduce these cars in Pakistan in near future, these were displayed to grab the attention which they did rather well.

According to the Kia representatives there, the units are for ‘display purpose’ only. However considering the fact that Hyundai-Nishat has launched a much expensive Santa Fe, Kia too can offer the Stinger and Niro as super-expensive options in their portfolio, as CBU import off course.

At the far corner of their booth was the black colored previous generation Picanto hatchback, which was also seen testing on the roads last year. However it had clearly written ‘Imported Unit Overseas Configuration’ on its windscreen which suggest that whenever Kia is going to launch the Picanto, it might not offer what the display unit has to.

Kia’s slogan is “The Power to Surprise”, and they did exactly that at the PAPS 2019. According to sources the company is on the verge of introducing the Sportage SUV, however we really wish to see a rich portfolio by Kia in Pakistan, just as they exhibited at the show.
