New Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo RS Launched in Philippines

Just days after Honda Atlas launched the ‘new’ Civic in Pakistan; the 2019 Civic facelift has landed in the Philippines, sporting a refreshed design inside and out. Aside from that, a new entry-level variant has also been added bringing the Civic range to three, these include the 1.8 S, 1.8 E, and 1.5 RS Turbo.

As in most markets, the changes to the 2019 Civic facelift in Philippines include a redesigned front fascia and new wheels– the RS gets 18-inch Belrina Black alloys, while 16-inch Shark Gray Metallic alloys for the 1.8 E. There are LED headlamps for 1.8 E and 1.5 RS whereas the 1.8 S gets halogen units. The 1.5 RS is further distinguished with a piano black grille and RS emblems.

Inside, the RS and the 1.8 E get an updated 7-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There are now buttons on the corners of the screen to improve tactile feel, and the ‘slide to adjust’ volume control has been changed in favor of a more traditional dial. There is even the redesign climate control which now allows users to adjust the fan speed without going through the touchscreen. The RS also gets new sport pedals with extra grip pads, and the red contrast stitching is more prominent that before. Leather and power adjustable seats are also exclusive to the RS.

The engines remain same with S and E powered by 1.8-liter naturally aspirated unit that makes 141 hp and 174 Nm of torque, while the RS gets the same 1.5-liter turbo good for 173 hp and 220 Nm of torque. All variants are paired to a CVT transmission whereas stability control is standard across the range.
