The new HiAce is built on a platform specially developed for this model. This is also the first time that the HiAce gets a protruding bonnet, allowing new engines to be fitted.
Measuring 5,915 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width and 2,80 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3,860 mm, the 6th gen HiAce is 535 mm longer, 70 mm wider and 5 mm lower compared to previous generation models. The wheelbase has also grown substantially by 750 mm.
Although the 6th generation HiAce comes in standard roof and high-roof body types, the HiAce Commuter on display at BIMS is based on the high-roof body type only.
The 2019 Toyota Commuter in Thailand is powered by a 2.8-liter GD diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Toyota will also offer the new generation HiAce with 7GR 3.5-liter petrol engine that will likely arrive towards the end of this year.
