Geely’s Lynk & Co has launched the 03 sedan for the Chinese car market on the 19th of October. Interestingly the launch event took place at the Fuji Speedway in Japan, where a high-performance Touring concept was also unveiled.
The Lynk & Co 03 premium sedan is priced between 116,800 yuan (PKR 22.4 lac) for the base version to up to 151,800 yuan (PKR 29.1 lac) for the flagship variant.
Unlike what is becoming the norm these days, the 03 doesn’t adopt the trendy four-door coupé bodystyle. Instead it sticks to a traditional three-box design. It adapts the brand’s signature dual-tier headlights with ‘dual-claw’ LED daytime running lights up top, with the larger lower units integrated into the grille.
At the side, the chrome window trim runs into the rear windscreen, while the rear sports L-shaped tail lights also seen on the 01 SUV and 02 crossover. Also evident is the sportier bumpers with squared-off front intakes and rear diffuser.
The 03 sedan measures 4,639mm in length, 1,840mm in width and 1,460mm in height, and sits on a wheelbase of 2,730mm. Like the 01 and 02, the 03 sedan is built on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) jointly developed by parent company Geely and Volvo.
As for the configuration, the 03 comes standard with LCD instrument panel, central touch screen, mobile phone interconnection, car WiFi, high-definition navigation, voice command, remote control, Bluetooth, four-way adjustable multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, rear seats 6/4 split seats, keyless entry, push-button start, electronic parking brake, automatic parking , driving mode selection, air quality management, active cockpit cleaning, glove box refrigerating, rear seats exhaust vents, front dual airbag , front side curtain airbags, force-limiting seat belts, one-touch calls, road rescue & emergency rescue systems and other rich configurations. In addition, the 03 is also equipped with L2 level automatic driving ability.
Lynk & Co 03 gets JLH-3G15TDC 1.5T direct injection inline three-cylinder engine under its hood with two iterations. There is a 117hp/ 245Nm and a 133hp/265Nm configuration unit, paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox . Later 03 sedan will also become available with a 2.0 liter turbo and plug-in hybrid versions.
The drag coefficient of the Lynk & Co 03 is 0.27. Equipped with the Goodyear Eagle F1 series asymmetric pattern sports tires , the acceleration time of the vehicle from standstill to 100km/h is 7.9 seconds.
Geely is serious to introduce the Lynk & Co in global markets, as unveiling the vehicle in Japan is one example. Production of Lynk & Co models have already commenced in Zhangjiakou, China, with Volvo’s plant in Ghent, Belgium also set to pick it up in 2019. Lynk & Co will also open a flagship store in Amsterdam by 2020.
