Hyundai LaFesta Sedan Launched in China

Hyundai has officially launched the LaFesta sedan in China. Developed exclusively for the Chinese car market, the LaFesta sedan is priced from 119,800 yuan and goes as high as 154,800 yuan.

The LaFesta sedan is available with 2 engines with three different power outputs, distributed across five available trims. There is a 1.4 liter turbocharged unit with 140 hp/ 242 Nm, a 1.6 liter turbocharged (low) with 190 hp/ 265 Nm and 1.6 liter turbocharged (high) with 204 hp/ 265 Nm. The engines are paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox for all the trims, however the top-spec model also feature paddle shifters.

The Lafesta sedan measures 4,660mm long, 1,790mm wide, 1,425mm tall, and rides on a 2,700mm wheelbase. According to Hyundai, the Lafesta is targeted towards young car buyers (under 30 years) who want a sedan with sportier driving characteristics.

The design language of Hyundai Lafesta is flamboyant, whereas the profile is very dynamic. It has an aggressive fastback styling with a front fascia highlighted by a version of Hyundai’s corporate Cascading grille, sleeker headlights, LED daytime running lights, and gloss black features.

It follows the latest design style while maintaining the sporting attributes. The functional partitions of the center console are clear enough. The 10.25-inch floating central control large screen is standard across the range. It is equipped with Baidu Intelligent Network 2.0 system, which supports Baidu CarLife and voice control functions.

Other configurations include driving mode selections, multi-function steering wheel, automatic headlights, ESC body stability control system, uphill assist, driver, passenger & side airbag, reversing radar, tire pressure monitoring and electronic handbrake etc.

It is yet to be known if Hyundai has plans to introduce the LaFesta sedan in other international markets or not. However the South Korean automaker has indicated about its plans to ship China-made cars to Southeast Asia, as a plunge in Chinese sales has left much of its local manufacturing capacity idled.
