Sandero Named Best Small Hatchback in HJ Satisfaction Index 2018

The Dacia Sandero has been named as the best performing small hatchback in the 2018 Honest John Satisfaction Index, UK.

The Sandero came out on top in the small hatch class with an impressive satisfaction rating of 93.8%. In addition, Dacia was third overall in the list of best performing car manufacturers with a score 89.3%.

Dacia is a Romanian car manufacturing company that was founded in 1966, and has been a subsidiary of the French car manufacturer Renault since 1999. It is Romania’s top company by revenue and the largest exporter, constituting 7.3% of the country’s total exports in 2014.

Based on the feedback of 10,000 car owners, they were asked to rate their cars in a variety of important areas, with drivers scoring them for reliability, ride comfort, fuel economy, practicality and performance. Owners also ranked their cars for build quality, ease of use, safety and repair costs.

The Dacia Sandero, starts at just £6,995, making it the most affordable new car on sale in the UK. Demonstrating that the Sandero is not just about an extremely affordable price are the numerous awards it’s picked up, notably What Car?’s ‘Best Small Car up to £12,000’ for the last six years.

Sandero was also featured alongside the Ford Fiesta and Volkswagen Up! inTop Gear Series 21 as part of a 1.0L three cylinder cars challenge, which ended with Jeremy Clarkson (VW Up!) and James May (Sandero) having to drive into the abandoned city of Chernobyl, Richard Hammond having already run out of fuel. The Sandero was the only car to make it back and complete all the challenges.

Jointly produced by Renault and Dacia, the Sandero subcompact is also known as Renault Sandero in certain markets including Russia, Egypt, Iran, South Africa, Mexico and other South American markets.

The Sandero comes with a variety of engine options depending on the market, including 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 liter petrol and 1.5 liter diesel engines with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. In 2013 Sandero achieved a four star EuroNCAP overall rating for base level, improving on the previous basic model’s three star score.

Fuel consumption of Sandero is quite impressive as it goes up to 18 km in a liter with 1.0 liter engine, while 16.9 km in a liter with its 1.2 liter engine variant.

Renault in Pakistan

According to a recent report, French automaker Renault will start vehicle production in Pakistan in 2020. Renault is venturing in Pakistan in collaboration with Al-Futtaim group, one of the biggest conglomerates of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with an investment of $140 million.

The company has acquired 54 acres of land to set up an automobile assembly plant in the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC), the largest industrial zone in the country. The plant will have installed capacity of 50,000 vehicles per year.

Renault intends to become a major car assembler in Pakistan, and will attempt to break the monopoly of the three dominating Japanese assemblers – Suzuki, Toyota and Honda. Renault will launch 5 vehicle models in its initial stages of operations that will hit the roads as early as June 2020, according to sources.
