Changan has competitively priced the new Yuexiang as it goes on against some fierce competition from the likes of Toyota Vios, Yaris L, Hyundai Reina, Geely Vision, Honda City subcompact in Chinese domestic market. Prices start from just 49,900 yuan (PKR 8.91 lac) for the base 1.4 liter version and goes as high as 65,900 yuan (PKR 11.77 lac) for the flagship 1.5 liter DCT version.
Key features include driver/passenger airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, 7-inch touch-screen central control panel, multi-function steering wheel , reversing camera, cruise control and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) etc.
Earlier in June, Master Motors of Pakistan and Changan Automobiles of China signed a joint venture (JV) agreement to import and assemble LCVs, MPVs, SUVs and Passenger cars in Pakistan. The most important aspect of the JV agreement is the fact that their assembly plant in Pakistan will be the first RHD base for Changan cars in the world. Vehicles produced here will be exported to RHD markets including Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and South Africa.
Although the company initially plans to introduce SUVs and MPVs along with minivans and commercial pickups, we do however hope that somewhere down the line, auto consumers might be able to see the likes of Changan Yuexiang subcompact sedan being introduced in our market.
