Earlier this year, Regal Automobile Industries Limited, the makers of Road Prince motorcycles, got the Greenfield investment status by the government under the Automotive Development Policy 2016-21 to assemble & manufacture DFSK (Dongfeng-Sokon) vehicles under the ‘Prince’ brand name in Pakistan.
At the ITIF expo held in March, the company’s Director Marketing & Sales Mr. Muhammad Adeel Usman, revealed their plans to introduce the Glory 580 SUV in Pakistan. Although there was no unit physically on display other than the huge poster image, the company was confident to introduce the vehicle within 2 months bearing a very competitive price tag.
Now within just a month, the Right Hand Drive (RHD) versions of Glory 580 SUV have reached Karachi and according to the company, the 7-seat SUV is all set to launch soon.
The Glory 580 is an impressive vehicle both in terms of design and equipment on offer. Furthermore the built quality seems far superior than the Chinese cars available in our market so far.
The SUV is powered by a 1.5 liter Euro-SFG 16-valve 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 148hp of power and 220Nm of torque, and is paired to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Key features include adjustable headlamps with LED DRLs, 17″ alloy rims, sunroof, 4 airbags, ABD+EBD, Traction Control System (TCS), electric parking brake, multi-function adjustable steering wheel, engine start/ stop button feature, smart entry system, EPS (Electric Power Steering), built-in dash cam, 10 inch smart touch screen with cell phone connectivity, TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) and reversing camera etc.
According to the information we received from the company officials, the Glory 580 will be priced at PKR 32.5 lac. Bookings can be made against PKR 5.0 lac while the vehicle will be delivered within four-months (after booking). The Glory 580 will be available as a CBU import contrary to other DFSK products that will be assembled locally.
DFSK (Dongfeng-Sokon) comes under the umbrella of Dongfeng Motor Corporation, the state-owned auto giant considered as one of the “Big Three” Chinese automakers. According to our information the Glory 580 SUV was built by close collaboration of Dongfeng and Honda, since Honda happens to be a joint-venture partner of Dongfeng in China. Dongfeng also assembles the CR-V in China and the Glory 580 has close connections with the (4th gen) CR-V, as its just 90mm longer in dimensions and has a similar engine (although less powerful) than its cousin the CR-V.
Further information will be shared as and when available, stay tuned to CarSpiritPK for more information on DFSK Glory 580 SUV.
