The Datsun CROSS compact crossover, the flagship model in Datsun’s lineup has officially went on sale in Indonesia.

The Datsun CROSS is the result of the collaboration of a team of designers and engineers from multiple countries, including Japan and Indonesia. The CROSS offers a full array of latest technologies, including high-performance suspension, Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) and advanced safety features such as VDC (vehicle dynamics control), ABS (anti-lock braking system) and dual-SRS air bags. The CROSS is a seven-seat crossover designed for “all lifestyles and a variety of tasks” as Datsun says.

According to Eiichi Koito, president director of Nissan Motor Indonesia:

The new Datsun CROSS is more than just a car. It was created to become a partner fitting the diverse lifestyles of Indonesian customers. We’ve carefully studied the requirements of the younger generation to develop a car that will fit the needs of the trendsetters in the market.

Under the hood there is a 1.2-liter petrol engine available in two tunes, a 68hp (51kW) and 78hp (58kW) whereas torque remains constant at 104Nm regardless of variant.

Features includes an impressive 200mm of ground clearance, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, dedicated fog lamps, rear windshield wiper, power steering, power windows, power outside mirrors with integrated turn signals, 15-inch alloy wheels with specific tires said to improve performance and economy, protective body cladding finished in dark metallic grey, faux skid plates for the front, sides and rear, along with automatic projector headlights with LED daytime-running lights.

Other available highlights include a 6.75-inch touchscreen infotainment system, rear parking sensors, dual front airbags, vehicle dynamic control (VDC) systems as standard in all grades, ABS with EBD, traction control and brake-limited-slip differential, which is segment leading in Indonesia.

After successful launch in Indonesia, Datsun intends to launch the CROSS in other Asian markets where it operates. And as per our recent discussion with a Ghandhara Nissan official, the CROSS can also be considered for Pakistan after the launch of Datsun Go and Go+ here.
