KIA Vehicles Spotted Testing 1

KIA is all geared up to make a comeback in Pakistan partnered with Lucky Cement, part of Yunus Brother Group (YBG).

Last month a newspaper ad gained public attention as the venture was hiring candidates in various disciplines, now 3 KIA vehicles have been spotted testing at Hyderabad to Hala Highway (courtesy Shahbaz Akber) which testifies that the company is carrying out road tests for evaluation of their possible models to be introduced.

The units although had their emblems camouflaged, can be identified as KIA Carnival minivan, Kia Rio hatchback and Kia Sportage SUV. The Carnival minivan comes with 3.3 liter V6 petrol and a 2.2 liter diesel engine mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Rio hatchback comes with an array of engine options including a 1.0, 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 liter petrol and 1.4 liter turbo diesel. Available transmission options are either a 5 & 6-speed manual or a 4 & 5-speed automatic depending on the engine configuration and trims levels.

The new Sportage comes with a 1.6 & 2.0 liter naturally aspirated, 1.6 & 2.0 liter turbocharged, 2.4 liter naturally aspirated and a 1.7 liter turbo diesel engine. Available transmission options are either a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic or a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission.

Do note that these vehicles are in testing phase and final decision regarding an official launch of (any of) these vehicles is yet to be made, however it does signals us about the healthy competition that seems to be arriving by 2019. And while Pak Suzuki doesn’t seems to be hurting much with the launch of these cars, it’s an alarm for Honda & Toyota for sure.

Stay tuned to CarSpiritPK for more information on the KIA vehicles in Pakistan.
