Jolta Electric Bikes in Pakistan

About 4 weeks ago, Jolta Technologies Pvt. Ltd. unveiled three electric powered motorcycles: The E70, E100 and E125. Good news is that these are also being manufactured locally.

The E70 (pictured above) will have around 50km of range after a 5 hour charge and is speculated to cost around Rs. 38,000/- and will have a top speed of 40-50 km/h. The E100 will have a slightly more powerful electric motor, a bigger battery and will require around 6 hours of charge that will give it a predicted range of 70km and a top speed of 60 km/h. The Jolta 125 will be the most expensive of the bunch and will have a range of 100km after an 8 hour charge and will be capable of reaching speeds up to 80 km/h.

Now that whatever was in the proverbial bag is out, let’s move on to the advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages:

  • Extremely environmentally friendly (zero emissions)
  • A full charge will not take more than Rs. 40
  • Very quiet because there’s an electric motor instead of an engine

Disadvantages:

  • Take too long to charge
  • Load-shedding will mean charging sessions will get interrupted
  • If you run out of power then you have to wait a significant amount of time for electric vehicles to charge where as in a conventional petrol powered bike, it would take a couple of seconds to fill up the tank.

When Jolta will E-bikes be available?

Jolta hasn’t released a statement as of yet but comments on their Facebook page suggests they may be released sometime soon in the coming months.
