Production and Sales of Chinese EV Rank First Among the World for Two Consecutive Years

Chinese alternative energy vehicles have production and sales volume of 517,000 units and 507,000 units respectively in 2016, ranking first among the world for two consecutive years. Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China said:

Chinese alternative energy vehicle industry is achieving active progress recently, after several years of implementation. Total production has exceeded 1 million units, accounting for more than 50% of global market. In 2016, 100,000 public charging facilities were newly built in China, which is 10 times more than the data from 2015. Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen have constructed large-scale charging service network, steadily promoting the construction of charging infrastructure.

In the meantime, alternative energy vehicle technologies have been promoted significantly. Currently, monomer energy density of power batteries have raised 1.7 times compared with 2012, with the price declining 60%. The dynamic performance, fuel economy, safety and comfort for BEV models have increased greatly compared with several years ago, which can basically meet the daily transportation needs and increase social recognition.

According to Miao Wei, BYD, Geely and BAIC have ranked among top 10 alternative energy passenger vehicle companies in terms of sales volume across the globe. In addition, Chinese domestic alternative energy buses, with world-leading technologies, have also been sold to more than 30 countries and districts across the world.
