Now images of that upcoming 800cc hatchback by United have surfaced and surprisingly enough it’s none other than the Chinese version of Suzuki Mehran, which means United, just like Honda replica motorcycles, might be selling the cloned Mehran in our country. Official announcement by United Motors regarding launch of the said vehicle is yet to be made though.

As per the images there are cosmetic add-ons including roof rails, rear extenders, different bumpers & different headlamps & tail lamps. While the interior comes with black & beige color coding, seatbelts, adjustable headrests, 4-spoke steering wheel and off course an upgraded dashboard. No details regarding the engine or suspension are available as of yet.

Apparently it’s a stripped version of Jiangnan TT, as evident from the logo on the steering wheel. The once cheapest car in China (now discontinued) which we shared back on 20th May 2016. CarSpiritPK was the first to share the story regarding the Jiangnan TT, in a bid to compare it with overly expensive under-spec Pak Suzuki Mehran. A few days later the story was picked by various auto portals and Youtube channels of the country and each manipulated the article to get a huge number of clicks. CarSpiritPK was first & the only one to use the story having acquired prior permission from the original author to publish the piece while giving due credit to the images used in that article.

Pak Suzuki has finally decided to say goodbye to Mehran as the Limited Edition model will reportedly be launched in 2018, while the 30 year old hatchback will be replaced by the 8th generation 660cc Alto in 2019. However from the looks of it, the auto consumers of Pakistan won’t be able to get rid of Mehran since it will be available with a different name under a different umbrella and will continue to be sold till… don’t know how long.

While we appreciate the upcoming competition in auto sector, we strongly believe it’s time to catch up to the world and embrace modern, safer, fuel efficient and environment-friendly vehicles rather than keeping ourselves stuck to the stone age.
