2017 Toyota Corolla Facelift Will Be Even More Successful

Indus Motors (IMC) is on the verge of launching facelift for the 11th generation Toyota Corolla sedan in Pakistan. The 11th gen was launched in our market back in June 2014 and after 3 years, IMC is all set to introduce the facelift here.

This facelift has already been launched in various markets across the globe and internet is already flooded with its pictures, however looking at the vehicle in person, the facelift indeed looks a lot better than the existing Corolla.

The bold refreshed front visage amplifies the Corolla’s aggressive look while the elongated, swept-back headlamp clusters are adorned with LED daytime running lights. The re-sculpted bumper features a larger air dam imparting a wider stance to its front profile.

The rear-end is largely similar to the existing model with the exception of the slightly restyled LED tail lamp clusters and a redesigned slim chrome garnish that further emphasizes the Corolla’s width and stance.

The interior also receives minor updates but the overall design and appearance looks unchanged. The instrument panel has been updated with a redesigned climate control panel and has now got circular air vents.

It’s not just the looks that seems to have improved, the car that I had a chance to inspect, the Silver 1.8L Altis Grande, had a much better built quality and better interior fit & finish compared to the 1.8L Altis Grande in Flaxen Mica color that I inspected before launch back in June 2014.

In addition, the top of the line Corolla now gets front & rear camera, driver & passenger airbags, isofix child seat interface, seatbelt pretensioners, immobilizer, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), engine start/stop button, new set of alloy wheels, climate control and new infotainment system.

Like before, the 1.8 liter variants will be the first to receive the facelift followed by 1.6 and 1.3 liter versions. However it is also reported that even the 1.3 liter Corolla variants will be equipped with dual airbags, immobilizer, ISO Fix child seat anchors, and seat-belt pretensioners as it was mandatory for manufacturers to offer safety and security equipment as per the new auto policy.

Since 2008, IMC has been constantly updating the Corolla every 3 years with either a facelift or a new model launch. And the 11th generation Corolla has brought fortunes for the company as it has broke all the previous sales record surpassing 50,000 units per annum mark.

The 11th gen Corolla sold 51,398 units in FY2014-15 and 57,452 units in FY2015-16 which is nearly twice the sales figures of Honda City, Honda Civic and Suzuki Swift combined.

If IMC is able to continue providing the same quality that I have seen with the facelift then the popularity of 11th gen Corolla facelift in Pakistan will reach new levels and this facelift will likely enhance Corolla’s reputation as the country’s most successful sedan.
