FAW Will Display a VW Inspired Wagon at Shanghai Auto Show

FAW is preparing really hard for the upcoming Shanghai Auto Show 2017 and is expected to show loads of concept cars and as per reports, nearly 4 production-ready vehicles.

Spy shots of a new sedan and an SUV have already surfaced the internet, now images of a new FAW wagon have appeared which seems another production-ready car and will likely make its debut at the upcoming mega event.

The car in picture seems heavily inspired by Volkswagen Cross Lavida wagon. Volkswagen happens to be FAW’s venture partners in China, but interestingly enough the Cross Lavida is manufactured by Shanghai VW, Volkswagen’s another venture partner since in China, a manufacturer can have ventures with more than one company.

Even if we call it a rip off, it doesn’t really matter since such examples are very common in China and it happens almost every now and then that a Chinese manufacturer takes inspiration from, or rather imitates a successful vehicle’s design.

The Wagon will be powered by a 1.0 liter (119hp) Turbocharged 4 cylinder engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It will be equipped with FAW’s new intelligent networking technology, equipped with voice control, infotainment, intelligent navigation, driving assist and other functions. The wagon will most likely be placed under FAW’s Junpai sub-brand which is meant to target budget buyers.
