FAW has launched the all-new Senya R7 SUV in China. The Senya R7 SUV has been through four different names during its lengthy development process; it was previously known as the FAW R020, then as FAW R20, and then Junpai D80.
‘Senya’ (森雅), also known as Xenia, is FAW’s range of vehicles that presently consists of a bunch of small MPV’s, the largest being the Senya M80 (which is also called as the Sirius S80 here in Pakistan).
The R7 has become quite a fine looking car, with sleek headlights, a big FAW logo on the front grill, and a skid pads under the bumpers. The Senya R7 will be available in two 4-cylinder DOHC petrol engines: a 1.6 liter with 109hp and 155nm, and a 1.8 liter with 139hp and 172nm, both mated to a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The top-end versions will get a large touch screen in the center of dashboard, while the low-end trims gets a non-touch screen which will be operated via a controller. Other key features include Driver/ Passenger Airbags, ABS with EBD, ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation), ESP, Alloy Wheels, Tilt/ Slide Steering wheel adjustment, Roof rack, Trip computer display, Parking sensors, Daytime running lights, Headlight height adjustment, fog lamps, Engine start/ stop button, GPS Navigation, USB input etc.
Price of Senya R7 in China starts from just 68,900 yuan (PKR 10.8 lac) up to 86,900 yuan (PKR 13.6 lac) for the fully loaded version. Al-Haj FAW does have plans to expand their portfolio here, a local assembled 1000cc V2 tops the list and then the B30 sedan is expected to make an arrival here. It will be too early to say anything regarding the launch of R7 in Pakistan, however with such cars in FAW’s portfolio out there, one may expect Al-Haj FAW to consider bringing these cars to Pakistan.
